Biswajit Murder: Appeals and Death Reference verdict on 6th August
The death sentence of the death convicts and the appeal hearing ended in the case of Durgi shopkeeper Biswajit Das murder case in Old Dhaka. The High Court will give verdict on August 6 in this regard.
High Court Justice on Monday. The Bench comprising Ruhul Kuddus and Justice Bhishma Devi Chakrabarty fixed the date for the verdict after the hearing of the appeal.
Deputy attorney general Najibur Rahman presented the arguments in the court in the court. Advocate Mansurul Haque Chowdhury and Advocate Shah Alam were present in the hearing.
Earlier, on 16 May, the death reference of the death convicts in the case of Biswajit Das murder case and the hearing began.
Earlier, on February 26, the bench of the Chief Justice asked for the hearing of the death reference of Biswajit Das murder case and the appeal of the accused on priority basis.
On February 19, a reference was made to the death reference of Biswajit Das murder case and the appeal of the accused to prepare a paperbook.
On December 18, 2013, eight people were sentenced to death and 13 people sentenced to life imprisonment. Justice ABM Nizamul Haque of Dhaka's Speedy Trial Tribunal declared the verdict.
Within a week of the verdict, the death reference of Biswajit murder case came to the High Court. Besides, the accused appealed against the death penalty in the lower court.

Those sentenced to life in karadandapraptara HM Kibria, Yunus Ali, Tariq bin Johor John, Golam Mostafa, Alauddin, Obaidur Quader Tahsin, Imran Hossain, Rahman, Al-Amin, Rafiqul Islam, Monirul hakapabhela, Mosharraf Hossain and Kamrul Hasan.
Each of them was also fined Tk 20,000.
Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) filed a charge sheet against 21 activists of Chhatra League in the murder case of Biswajit Das on March 5, 2013. Of these 21 accused, 8 are in prisons and the rest are absconding.
During the blockade program on December 9, 2012, Jaggonath University (JB) Chhatra League cadres were brutally murdered in front of Victory Park in Old Dhaka's capital Dhaka.
There was Barijit's tailor's shop in Shakhari Bazar. He lived in Laxmibazar. Shariatpur in his village home.
