Lakhs of people, including students, businessmen and professionals, participated in this work in 14 unions of the upazila from 11 am to 12 am on Tuesday.

The inauguration of this tree plantation program at the upazila parishad premises was inaugurated by local parliament member ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, chairman of the parliamentary committee on railways.


He said, "Planting is the result of the long four-month plan, preparation and labor.

"We have planted 500,000 saplings of fruits in an hour, in the open area of ​​religious and educational institutions, in an hour, in the area of ​​243 square kilometers of the upazila.

Besides, five thousand mango plants have been planted by Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology at Pahartoli in the upazila, he said.


"All of us should do the forestry. There is no alternative to tree plantation to deal with global warming. We do this program every year. Now, we have organized tree plantation program through big arrangements, "said MP Fazle Karim Chowdhury.

"The responsibility is not finished by planting, it can be said to start. We keep regular supervision to protect these plants. Our volunteers will be aware of the care of the plants. "

He said that 154 committees of 14 unions have supervised the planting activities.
